how QR codes work illustrationRelease your company with QR Codes It’s about time technology released the full potential of more traditional marketing.

QR codes is the abbreviation for Quick Response or Quick Release coding and is latest trend in print. If you’re not familiar with QR codes don’t fret.  It’s really not that complex for the user to incorporate in a campaign.

Most printers already print bar codes and the QR Code is just another way of providing information via a scanned image. The QR Code (or 2D Code) contains bits of information in both the vertical and horizontal directions, whereas a bar code contains data in one direction only. This technology was initially created to track packages but is now used in a much broader context, including both commercial tracking applications and convenience-oriented applications aimed at mobile phone users (known as mobile tagging). Many of the mobile phones sold in the U.S. can support reading QR Codes with the download of an app.

Here are a couple of sites offering downloads:

www.mobile-barcodes.com
itunes.apple.com

There are a multitude of Free downloads.  Just Google QR Codes and find one that works best for you.

You may have already seen QR codes in magazines, on signs, buses, business cards, or just about any object that users might need information about. Camera phones equipped with the correct reader software can scan the image of the QR Code, causing the phone’s browser to launch and redirect to the programmed URL. This is known as a hardlink or physical world hyperlinks.
QR codes can be used to display text to the user, to add a vCard contact to the user's device, to open a URI which is a string of characters used to identify a name or a resource via the internet.  Users may also choose to compose an email or text message. QR codes are easily generated by visiting one of several free QR code generating sites.huge qr code on a billboard
